i purchased some led front turn signals and i installed them. When all my lights are off and i put the turn signal they work (blink fast but i already now i need to purchase a resistor), the problem is when i turn on my head lights the normal yellow lights used to be always on as well as acting like a turn signal by blinking, but my leds are not on unless i activate hazards or signals…whats going on
also i have rear led strip maybe that has to do with it??
please help as i want the turn signal/fog light to stay on even though i dont activate the signal…any help is appreciated.yes it is a plug and play, if you are famailiar with the new body grand prix you know that the fog light and turn signal/parking light are at the same position. My grand prix didnt come with the fog lights, but the old yellow light/turnsignal used to come on (stay on) when i turn on my headlights or parking lights…but now the leds only turn on when i activate the hards or either left or right signal…maybe they are not dual stage LED Fluorescent? btw i didnt install any resistors or anything i just plugged them in. thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.
Based on your results it actually sounds like your new lights are working correctly. Usually the “yellow lights” and what I think you are also calling “fog” cheap light bulbs are what GM calls park/running lights; and they come on with the tail lights when the headlights are switched on. Not your turn signals. Unless I’m mistaken your turn signal lights and park/running lights aren’t on at the same time. Similarly your tail light assembly has two elements or bulbs so that when you turn on the signals your rear brake lights are on steady (not flashing).
I would check the wiring diagram and power distribution to check to double check how you have connected everything. You should see separate bulbs or elements at the front of the car for turn and running but again the wiring diagram would show that. But if the signal lights did used to come on with the headlights then when you install the right best led light bulbs driver or change the resistive load not only will your blinkers slow but your turn signals may again work like they did before. I’d resolve that first and assume you have wired or installed it correctly already. This is just a plug in light assembly right? (GM and ASE certified Master Technician 10yrs, Test Engineer 2yrs)
