I recently got a led strip from Pilot Automotive and seeing as this is the first time I’ll be installing one help would be greatly appreciated. Ok here the deal, the light has two wires running through it a black one and a white and black striped one, now the instructions say to connect the black wire to the chassis ground (in guessing any part of the body, but I may be wrong), and connect the striped wire to a switched power source (parking light, tail light, etc.) only problem with that is I want it in the jeep not outside so I have no idea where to connect that at all (detail of exactly where this wire would go would again be greatly appreciated). Also just for the record I know it’s illegal to drive with interior lights on, I just want to have it working, it doesn’t mean is going to drive with it on.
i would start by going to auto zone and buy a toggle switch so you can turn them on and off a will so once you have the switch place the light where you wan it then take the black wire to any metal part of the car you could use a bolt that you see in place already just make sure that the wire is touching the metal off the car for example if you see a screw going through plastic then into the metal that would not be a good ground next mount the toggle switch where you want it then run the white wire from youre light to the switch (there should be two tabs on the back of the switch) cut the wire to length the remaining wire that you cut off hook to the other side of the switch and run that to the battery off the car.(RED SIDE FOR POSSITIVE).now the switch will control the lights to go one and off whenever you want ps if the on off switch isnt the way you want it example up is off on is down you could change it by reversing the wires on the back of the switch also disconnect the battery during install incase you were to touch a bare wire you wont blow any fuse also when you run the wire from the switch to battery you could run the wire under the dash and go threw where you see other wires going threw to the engine area if you need more help you could call me at 609 618 2175 good luck its easy.
Neon or LED Fluorescent for under my car I have no clue and need serious help?hey am bout to go on a beach trip and i wanted to spice my car up with some street glow and so i first came to a problem of should i get neon tubes or LED Fluorescent some say neon cum its brighter but some say led cum they last longer and easier to maintain what do u think i should get………………….also if it aint bright enough to shine all over the ground were my car is at then it aint good enough for me so yea …………also if u know a site i can order them from let me know.
Go with neon. LED underbody lights available today are not bright enough. The best (and most expensive) LED underbody lights available today use only small 5mm LEDs. They are arranged to only cast focused light in a small strip along the side of the car. Small led light bulbs need to be focused in order to be able to see it. Neon on the other hand is higher output and doesn’t need the focusing. With neon, your car will actually look like the entire underbody is lit up. With LED your car will look like a little line of light is around your car.
Secondly just go out and look at the price of neon vs. LED. Neon is a lot cheaper.
